Canada!

Okay, okay, here comes the big post. I know I haven't blogged since AGES basically, so I decided to blog on moving to Canada. I'm going to go through hopefully almost everything new here that I've seen so far.

BEFORE THE FLIGHT!
Gosh, packing up for moving is a lot of effort. Just imagine piling up whatever you see in your house into multiple suitcases, minus the furniture and such. My family and I started packing up in May. We used to pack a little everyday, and with these baby steps, we were finally done.

THE FLIGHT!
August 19 2014, the day of my flight to a land I'd never encountered ever before. I'd been to India, Saudi Arabia, Europe and America before, but Canada was different; I was going to live here. I remember being all sad in the flight, trying to fight tears, but it was going to be okay.

The flight was quite long. Um, allow me to be more precise: 18 HOURS OF SITTING IN A REALLY ANNOYING CHAIR. Haha, just kidding! It wasn't all that bad; we bought neck pillows before the flight so it was comfortable. The food was amazing as far as I can remember, and I actually slept in the flight - which isn't very normal for me, because I just can't sleep in flights. I remember chewing almost half a pack of gum which my father got me, because my breath stunk, due to sleeping. I even remember waking up with a piece of gum in my mouth!! Unfortunately, our seat was dead in the middle of the plane so we had no window-side seat, but hey!

Our flight was Etihad so we got pampered with these TVs in front of our seat. I watched the Lego Movie, which I really liked. I think I watched a couple other movies but I can't remember; it's been 2 months now! Wow, time really does fly, doesn't it?? (I just realized that relates to flights and all. Wow, I'm punny ;P)

We arrived in the evening, I believe, and my family friends were there to receive us. I felt incredibly tired, but that's mostly what flights do to you: you rest so much that you get tired.

SCHOOL!
School started 5 weeks after my arrival, and gosh, I was so nervous on the first day!! I'd never switched schools before, except in KG 2, which I don't even remember, but it was Al Nahda. I'll never forget that<33 Anyway, I was all nervous but I managed to find my class - 82. Sounds weird, eh? That's because we're used to classifying classes with letters (WOW SO AMAZE "CLASSIFYING CLASSES"), but here we do it with numbers, and there's only 3 classes of grade 8 in my school, Frontenac.

I met a lot of people - so many that I couldn't remember their names, but now I do, and I recognize them too - even if they're from different classes. I felt so welcome because the atmosphere was so friendly, and as soon as all the students entered the building, they'd be welcomed by Mr Breckels - Frontenac's new vice principal.

We get lockers here, and that's because we move to different classes, kinda like the opposite of where I came from before. The teachers used to come to us unless it was Phys Ed or Computer or Art, but most of the day we were on our seat. In my new school, we're the ones who need to move around and we get to go to our lockers in breaks and only between periods if we have permission. We do have a homeroom, which is my Maths teacher - Mrs Mladen's. That's the room we go to in breaks. Another new thing is a special period called Tag. In Tag, you express your feelings and write them down in a journal. We talk about a new topic each month, and in September it was treating people the way you'd like to be treated. This time, it's making a difference.

I met my Language/Geography teacher, Mrs Maggio, and she's really funny. She always uses dogs as examples for whatever she's saying because she loves them - she has one, too! Her name is like Mrs Maggi's, isn't it?

TODAY!
And that was, if not all, most of it covered. We did hang around also, went to Niagara Falls and Toronto.

I really really wanted everyone to know this, at least everyone who was in grade 7 with me. Remember the Narnia play me, Ishendri, Naznin, Dania, Hiba, Alya and Sadaf did together for English? Remember that I was Lucy and Alya was the White Which who Mrs Hagar wanted to kiss later? I was wearing the same jacket I wore that day, and it was getting cold, so I put my hand into my pocket and discovered my dialogues from that play! I was so shocked; the memories came rushing back into me and I could feel tears well up into my eyes. I got home as soon as I could, and that's what leaded me to here. To blog, and share this all with you guys, because I love you and I miss you so much. Comment down below on how you're doing, what projects you have to do, and what else is up??

Today was picture day and all, so we got our pictures taken and something else surprising happened - A SILLY CLASS PICTURE?! I didn't know what to do, so I just stuck my tongue out.

Also, we have to listen to "O Canada!" - the national anthem of Canada - everyday, facing Canada's flag, but we're not required to sing it. In fact, so far I haven't heard ANYONE sing it.

The weather is freezing. Well, not literally, but it is for me because I'm used to the heat.

Also, tomorrow, is my birthday. 22nd October. So from now I'm going to try to blog more, so it can almost be like old times again, because memories never die (by the way, don't cry, hey that rhymed ohmygosh I'm on a roll today!!)

AND OH MY GOSH DANIA YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE ME: SUROOR IS KIND OF NEAR TO WHERE I LIVE. She's in a different city, but at least she's in the same state as me!! My sister got in contact with her sister, and we might meet omg omgomgogmg

Also, my father and Cloudy arrived here on October 17th. Cloudy was a bit quiet at first, but now she's back to her stubborn self.

The Internet is amazing because we can connect even by being so far away, so let me know what's up down below! Which part of my post did you find the most weird? Also, is Naznin gone now? She said that she'd stay for a term I think, right?
